Abundance of Ticks in Arkansas

thumb_fd2040ff628aa59ARKANSAS – The Division of Agriculture from the University of Arkansas is saying there is more ticks in the Natural State this year.

Entomologists say American dog ticks and lone star ticks in particular are abundant this year.

Other ticks that can be found in Arkansas include the winter tick, the Gulf Coast tick, the blacklegged tick, and the brown dog tick.

Experts say if you find a tick attached to you, promptly remove it by using tweezers, and pull upward with steady pressure. After removing the tick, clean the area with alcohol, an iodine scrub, or soap and water.
