Missouri Roads Safest Since 1947

thumb_f0baf5fd783d5feJEFFERSON CITY, Mo. – Missouri roads are the safest they’ve been in more than six decades.

The Missouri Highway Patrol says 741 people died last year – that’s the lowest figure since 683 in 1947.

Missouri road officials have placed extra importance on reducing traffic fatalities in recent years.

MoDOT has put safe measures in place such as cables in the median to prevent cross-over collisions, and rumble strips along roadway sides to warn drivers before they run off the road.
