thumb_3f1c6188b807478 thumb_055eefda76e1616 thumb_c234aa8e32c788eFirefighters endured brutally cold weather for nearly four hours Sunday while battling a blaze at a home on Midview Drive in Kimberling City.

Initial reports indicate the home belongs to the town’s mayor, Joe Schrodt. A neighbor informed firefighters that Schrodt and his wife were out of town on vacation.

Police arrived after 4 a.m. to find the structure well involved in flames. More than 20 Southern Stone County firefighters responded, along with a crew from Western Taney County.

No one was injured. The cause of the fire is undetermined at this time.

Chief David Gyger says he does not believe the blaze is related to the recent string of arson fires in Reeds Spring.
